Axel is UKIB’s Director leading on debt, equity and guarantee investments in the UK Heat Network sector and also focuses on Retrofit and Natural Capital. He has been with UKIB since its inception and for the previous seven years before joining UKIB worked at the Infrastructure and Projects Authority, delivering a variety of nationally significant infrastructure projects. His experience included helping design and being on the Board of DESNZ’s Heat Network Investment Project (HNIP) and Green Heat Network Fund (GHNF). Before that Axel helped to set up infrastructure project finance for German speaking countries at the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg for eight years, and prior to that worked in private equity for the Bechtel Group in London. Axel has a PhD in finance from Manchester Business School and graduated with a Masters in Management from the University of St Gallen in Switzerland.
